About Jax

JAX LEATHER COMPANY was started in 1989 but we have been involved with leather crafting for years. Love of the high country and the great outdoors led to the creation of the business to produce equipment for horses and mules and many related accessories.

An extended interest in shooting sports and western life styles lead to participation in the growing sport of Cowboy Single Action Shooting™. In this sport we're known as Doc James (SASS #5061 LTG, SASS Regulator and Range Officer Instructor) and Frisco Frankie (SASS #3266). It was here that Doc honed his holster making expertise to develop some of the finest gun leather available, both for single action pistols as well as for modern pistols. Our holster patterns are our own designs and are Copy Protected©.

In 1995 Doc left his "other" job to devote more time to our efforts to building Jax, and its reputation for quality craftsmanship. Our shop adjoins our home in Madera, California, in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. We reside here with our three mules, Misty who has been our constant guardian at cowboy shoots and on the trail, Toby our new guardian and Tommy Joe the cat.

We work hard to provide quality products that are functional, durable and handsome. We use our products both on the trail in the backcountry and at the cowboy shoots. We aim for customer satisfaction and take great pride in having many repeat customers. We like what we do, we like the people we've met in this business and hope you'll share our enthusiasm.
